JEWETT CONSTRUCTION TO BUILD WAREHOUSE ADDITION FOR J.P. SERCEL ASSOCIATES(March, 2010)Jewett Construction Co., Inc. has recently begun Phase I of construction on a Manufacturing addition for J.P. Sercel Associates, Inc. in Manchester, NH. JP Sercel Associates, Inc., (JPSA), builds advanced laser micromachining systems, operates a high performance laser job, and provides applications development laboratories for customers worldwide in the solar, LED, semiconductor, MEMS, and biomedical industries. Our team of 85 employees is dedicated to developing leading edge laser micromachining products and services using highly precise UV, DPSS and Ultrafast laser technology. The 25,330 sq. ft. addition will consist of a 23,000 sf structure with an office mezzanine, and a separate 2,330 sq. ft. elevated steel-framed addition will house a new conference room. Construction will be performed in three phases – from site work and concrete foundations to pre-engineered building erection; steel; miscellaneous metals; and interior finishes to design-build plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems to be based on an outline scope of work. As this addition is being built onto an existing, active facility, proper co-ordination is critical in order to avoid disruption of the client's daily operations. According to Ron Lavoie, Project Manager at JPSA, "Jewett Construction is a great company. They work hard and seem to really care about what they do. They pay attention to the details and are very conscientious about quality, whether it be by their use of energy efficient products or their willingness to clean up the worksite. I also appreciate Jewett's commitment to meeting deadlines. JPSA is undergoing rapid growth and timing is a critical part of this project. It is very important to JPSA that we can rely on Jewett for a smooth transition and that business is not interrupted. We at JPSA feel fortunate to partner with Jewett in our growth." JEWETT CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. COMPLETES BUILDING FOR JTA CORPORATION(February, 2010)
Jewett Construction has recently wrapped up construction of a new 20,625 sf pre-engineered metal building in Seabrook, NH for JTA Corporation. Part of this jobsite had been classified as wetland, and a deep layer of soft clay was discovered through a series of soil borings, therefore special precautions were instituted by the State of New Hampshire, presenting challenges. Jewett successfully overcame these challenges and completed construction within the six-month schedule. The site work included creating ample parking spaces with paved access to two small loading docks and a paved ramp to one large dock that gains access at floor level. The flow of water through and off of the site was handled by a series of bioswales and detention ponds, designed to offer minimal impact to the surrounding areas. The pre-engineered metal building houses a corrugated container manufacturing company and utilizes floor-to-ceiling shelving units in the rear of the building. The company's office space occupies rooms created by a mezzanine encompassing 60% of the front of the building. It features a reception area, small kitchen, rest rooms, warehouse, office and storage space, as well as four main offices and conference room complete with wainscoting and chair rail. The remaining space will remain vacant for future client rental space. Much of the poured concrete slab floor space has been dedicated as workspace with easy access to the tall storage racks in the back. The entire building utilizes sprinkler system based fire protection. All mechanical utilities are housed on the mezzanine area above the office space. The exterior façade of the building offers a dramatic two-tone look with differing metal building components to show off the windowed space and storefront glass entryway. The Owners have chosen a dark green exterior color scheme over the cream-colored office space, which blends with the natural surroundings. For areas outside the facility, a pollution prevention plan addressed minimizing overall construction impact on the site.
