JEWETT CONSTRUCTION TO BUILD NEW SHOWROOM FOR FORD OF LONDONDERRY

Jewett Construction Co., Inc. has recently begun construction on a new showroom for Ford of Londonderry, located at 33 Nashua Road in Londonderry, NH. The Owner demolished the original 60’ x 50’ showroom to make room for construction to begin on the new showroom. Work, which began in mid-November of 2009, will wrap up in April.
The new showroom will differ dramatically from the original, with wide expanses of glass covering the sides and street-facing wall, an Aluminum Composite Panel system, a fully-adhered EPDM roof system, and new exterior masonry. The interior of the showroom will be completely open to the structural roof system, HVAC spiral ductwork, and other mechanical components, and will feature a suspended lighting system.
In addition to the new showroom, work will take place at the existing dealership, including a new fire alarm system and renovations to the existing sales areas, providing access to the showroom.
The Ford of Londonderry dealership will remain open for business during construction, with sales staff working from temporary office trailers onsite until completion of the new showroom. dealerhsip fully-operationalGreat care will be taken to ensure the safety of the staff and customers of the dealership, and of the construction crew.

JEWETT CONSTRUCTION TO COMPLETE ADDITION AND RENOVATIONS FOR TOYOTA OF KEENE

Jewett Construction Co., Inc. has recently been awarded a contract by Fenton Family Dealerships for renovations and an addition to its Toyota of Keene dealership, located at 591 Monadnock Highway, East Swanzey, NH. Construction began in late October and will wrap up in early May of 2010.
The design-build project will consist of 5,517 sf of additions, including a new pre-engineered steel building, a wood-framed tool storage addition, a load-bearing masonry stair tower structure, and a steel-framed structure for new car delivery. Renovations will be performed to approximately 3,291 sf of interior first- and second-floor areas. Construction will take place while the existing Toyota dealerhsip dealership is fully-operational fully operational, and great care will be taken to ensure that that the day-to-day operations of the dealership are not interrupted.

JEWETT CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. PERFORMS EXTERIOR RENOVATIONS FOR FOSS MOTORS

Jewett Construction has recently completed exterior renovations for Foss Motors at 133 Portsmouth Avenue in Exeter, NH. An exterior facelift was performed to the dealership entrance to meet Chrysler’s Millenium architectural design.
Completed in three weeks, while the client’s showroom remained open, this design-build project consisted of new stucco, steel, glass and glazing, and roofing at the building’s entrance.
JEWETT CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. MAKES DONATION TO THE TILLOTSON CENTER

In a show of support for the arts, Jewett Construction has made a donation to The Tilloston Center in Colebrook, NH. Chairs that had been salvaged from a recent renovation project performed by Jewett were donated to the Center, which is presently under construction in Colebrook.
The Tillotson Center, a collaborative project between the Colebrook Downtown Development Association ’s newest venture, the Town of Colebrook, the Colebrook Historical So ciety, the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts, the Connecticut River Art i s an Group and other regional organizations, will serve as a theater and performing arts venue, a gallery f or the visual arts and house many historical and art related programs displays for this Northern New Hampshire and Vermont area. All work at the Center is being performed by volunteers, or by contractors funded with donations , and guests grants, with a Grand Opening to take place within the next few months expected in 2010. Alison Huber-Jewett said, “ I learned of the need for these theater chairs through Christine Charman of the Upper Connecticut Vallley Community Coalition . Jewett Construction is a proud supporter of the arts, especially within New England, and is happy to have had the opportunity make such a donation. ” Alison Huber-Jewett is a member of the Connecticut River Artisan Group and will be showing her work at the Interpretive Center this November.
JEWETT CONSTRUCTION GIVES BACK TO THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

Jewett Construction Co., Inc., member of the New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association (NHADA), recently showed its support of the automotive industry in a number of generous ways. Upon completing renovations at Foss Motors in Exeter and the new Automotive Training Center at Manchester Community College in Manchester, Jewett presented the New Hampshire Automotive Education Foundation (NHAEF) with a $1,000 donation for each respective project.
Jewett Construction realizes the importance of education and the benefits of expanding the automotive industry in the State of New Hampshire and is proud to support the NHADA and NHAEF in their efforts. Jewett recently completed construction of the new Automotive Training Center at Manchester Community College. The Center has achieved a LEED® Gold Certified rating as guided by the US Green Building Council, and incorporates a variety of strategies to increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact while providing students with state-of-the-art learning tools
JEWETT CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. PERFORMS RENOVATIONS FOR FIRST COLEBROOK BANK

(Raymond, NH) Jewett Construction has recently completed renovations to an existing bank building in Portsmouth, now occupied by First Colebrook Bank. Through interior and exterior renovations, the building, located at 2400 Lafayette Road, has been transformed into a new branch for First Colebrook Bank.
As Construction Manager for this project, Jewett designed and built HVAC system additions and modifications, as well as electrical systems. Interior renovations included millwork; acoustical ceilings; carpet & resilient flooring; plumbing; painting; and additional interior finishes and fixtures. Renovations performed on the exterior include new EIFS, roof coping, and painting.
Jewett’s designer was Bruce Ronayne Hamilton Architects, of New Ipswich, NH, and work was performed by subcontractors such as Glenn Brann of Chester, NH; Peak Painters of Barrington, NH; Seacoast Glass of Portsmouth, NH; and Commercial Insulators of Candia, NH.
JEWETT CONSTRUCTION AND THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA ARE BREAKING RECORDS

On September 11 th 2009, Jewett Construction Co., Inc. sponsored a Boy Scout Benefit Golf Tournament that brought in over $41,000 in receipts, a record for this tournament now in its 29 th year. Jewett’s eleventh year as Tournament Sponsor brings the total of Jewett Construction’s efforts at fundraising for this tournament to nearly $364,000.
Craig Jewett, President of Jewett Construction, supports scouting and serves as Chairman of the golf tournament committee and assisted the Historic District throughout the planning, fundraising, and event day. He notes, “It is a pleasure to work with such a wonderful group and to provide for the youth of this state. We love doing it.”
The event was held at Breakfast Hill Golf Course. In addition to Jewett’s Tournament Sponsor, there were 30 corporate contributors and donors. Other major donors included AT&T, Northeast Lantern, Hoyle Tanner & Associates, and many more.
This annual benefit supports the Historic District of the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Historic District supports 65 Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, and Venture Crews with a total membership of 2000 youth. The money raised from the tournament goes to support the camps and programs that make scouting in New Hampshire such a quality experience.

Stephen Kanavich, Estimator for Jewett Construction Co., Inc. was recently certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED ® AP). Stephen is the fourth of Jewett’s personnel to achieve the LEED ® AP certification; he joins teammates James “Randy” Overbey, Rob Secinaro, and Gary Stevens. This prestigious certification was obtained to help position Jewett Construction to achieve one of its goals of promoting design and construction of eco-friendly buildings and sites.
