JEWETT EMPLOYS THREE STUDENT INTERNS THIS SUMMER
Jewett Construction awarded three students with internships this summer, to learn and work in the design and construction fields. Kara Simard of Raymond, NH attends Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY majoring in Architecture. She worked with office staff to learn project backgrounds and design/construction basics. Stephen Mayer of Hampton, NH majors in Civil Engineering at UNH and has spent three summers with Jewett. Josh Coderre of Fremont, NH came to Jewett through the Epping High School and the Seacoast School of Technology (SST) internship program. Mayer and Coderre both spent this summer working in the field with Project Superintendents.



JEWETT CONSTRUCTION SPONSORS RECORD SETTING GOLF TOURNAMENT
On September 7th 2007, Jewett Construction Co., Inc. of Raymond, NH sponsored a Boy Scout Benefit Golf Tournament that brought in over $39,000 in receipts. This is a record for this tournament now in its 27th year. Jewett's tenth year as Tournament Sponsor brings the total of Jewett Construction's efforts at fundraising for this tournament to nearly $279,000.

JEWETT COMPLETES KIA OF KEENE
June, 2007 - Jewett Construction recently completed a major renovation to Kia of Keene's dealership located at 119 Monadnock Highway in Swanzey, NH. This project involved the construction of a new 21,000 SF automotive dealership, including 6,000 SF of office, showroom and service write-up space, and 15,000 SF for service bays.
The construction was phased to allow Kia of Keene to remain open in their existing facility while under construction. Phase I included an addition to their existing facility and ran from June, 2006 to November, 2006. Phase II began in January of 2007 and was complete by April. This included demolition of the existing structure and an addition to the new building.
Now complete, the building is a true showcase of modern dealership construction. The facility features a raised sales office, second floor corporate offices, open vaulted ceiling and an acid etched stained concrete floor in the showroom; a state-of-the-art, customer-friendly service write up space; 14 service bays and a separate reconditioning bay.
The design was provided by Bruce Ronayne Hamilton Architects of New Ipswich, NH and Kimball Chase of Portsmouth and key subcontractors such as S.U.R. Construction of Winchester, Quality Concrete of Rindge, Riess Construction of Plymouth, and Longchamps Electric of Manchester all contributed to the project's success. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held June 4, 2007.
HUBER SPEAKS AT NORTH COUNTRY NON-TRADITIONAL CAREER FAIR
June, 2007 - Alison Huber of Jewett Construction Co., Inc. recently spoke to over 100 eighth grade students about career opportunities for women in the construction industry. Ms. Huber discussed career paths from Management positions to working in the field, giving the students options to think about as they prepare to enter High School. The students, all young women, were part of the "Careers Have No Gender" event held at NHCTC in Berlin on May 23, 2007.
Eighth grade students of the Berlin, Gorham, Errol, Lancaster, Littleton, Pittsburg and Whitefield, NH schools attended the event, which presented them with career opportunities that are non-traditional to one's gender. Female instructors like Ms. Huber of the Construction industry were also present from the Automotive, Drafting/Engineering, and the Computer Repair industries to speak to the female students. Male instructors were also present from the Business/Accounting, Early Childhood Education, Food Service and Health/Medical industries to speak to the male students. Berlin and Littleton High School's Career and Technical Education Center and the New Hampshire Community Technical College of Berlin collaborated to create this unique event.
"Alison is a great role model for the young women who attended." said Gwen Blair Ph.D., Director Hugh J. Gallen Career and Technical Center in Littleton, NH, "It is important for young women to actually see and hear a woman in the construction industry. This presents a powerful message".

JEWETT COMPLETES LAARS HEATING SYSTEMS, INC. ADDITION
June, 2007 - Jewett Construction recently completed a building addition to Laars Heating Systems, Inc.'s facility located at 20 Industrial Way, Rochester, NH. The project includes a 22,000 SF addition for receiving and material storage . The addition includes a receiving office, two handicap accessible restrooms and warehouse space with 5 overhead doors and 4 dock levelers.
The design was provided by T.F. Moran of Bedford, NH and key subcontractors such as S.U.R. Construction of Rochester; American Concrete of Kingston, Construx of Plymouth; Tri-City Drywall of Lebanon, ME; Palmer & Sicard of Exeter and Longchamps Electric of Manchester all contributed to the project's success. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held June 1, 2007.

JEWETT COMPLETES AUTO-TORIUM RENOVATION
Jewett Construction recently completed a façade renovation to Auto-Torium in Hooksett, NH. The project involved the construction of new Suzuki "lifestyle" arches and a complete "face lift" to reflect the Suzuki brand image. The work was conducted during normal business hours with little or no disruption to the daily activities of this dealership.


STEPHEN KANAVICH NAMED DIRECTOR OF PRE-CONSTRUCTION SERVICES AT JEWETT CONSTRUCTION
March, 2007 - Jewett Construction Co., Inc. of Raymond, NH, recently announced the addition of Stephen Kanavich to its estimating and pre-construction services staff. Kanavich, a resident of Raymond, NH has over 28 years of experience in the construction industry and formerly served as Senior Estimator for Shawmut Design & Construction in Boston, MA and Estimating Executive for Gilbane Building Company. Stephen is a welcomed addition to Jewett Construction and his position as Director of Pre-Construction Services will encompass all estimating and management of all pre-construction activities within the firm.
Steve grew up in California and went on to serve in the United States Air Force before attending North Bennett Street Industrial School, Boston, MA and New Hampshire Technical College, Manchester, NH where he studied Construction & HVAC Technologies.

JEWETT CONSTRUCTION CO., INC.'S RANDY OVERBEY NAMED LEED ® ACCREDITED PROFESSIONAL
March, 2007 - James "Randy" Overbey, a Project Manager and Safety Officer for Jewett Construction Co., Inc. was recently certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED ® AP). This prestigious certification was obtained to help position Jewett Construction to achieve one of its goals of promoting design and construction of eco-friendly buildings and sites.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nation's foremost coalition of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.
